Dear Central Heights ISD Family,

I am sure that you have all heard by now that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has closed classrooms for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. With that being said, we still have a few weeks of on-line instruction and/or instructional packets before the year is officially over.

A few dates to remember going forward:

CHISD will resume meal distribution beginning on Monday, April 27th. Instead of daily meals, we will be going to a twice weekly schedule that will take place on Monday's and Wednesday's from 11:00 am — 1:00 pm. Lunch and breakfast will be given for 2 days on Monday's and for the remainder of the week on Wednesday's. This will continue thru May 20th.

CHISD will continue offering instruction on-line as well as curbside packet pick-up in front of the offices of each campus.

Monday's 11:00 am - 1:00 pm or 3:30 pm — 5:30 pm

Elementary will not have new packets on April 27th and 28th (The packets that were given out on April 20th and 21st contain 2 weeks of work). All other grade levels will be available.

May 4th and 5th will be the last week that new assignments will be given. Any and all remaining assignments should be turned in on May 11th or 12th to allow time to get them to the teachers.
May 11th and 12th – Personal items that may have been left in lockers at Spring Break will be gathered and available at these times.

May 18th and 19th will be set aside for students to return textbooks, calculators, library books (not including those given away during the closure), athletic equipment, etc... *Coaches will be contacting athletes regarding procedures for returning gear.

UPDATE: March 14, 2020

After much consideration and conferencing with administrators and other superintendents around the county about the spread of COVID 19, it has been decided that Central Heights ISD will extend its’ Spring Break for another week and resume classes on Monday, March 23rd.  We will continue to follow information provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  This is an unprecedented event for most districts within our state and we will keep you posted on any further changes.

This means that all events that were scheduled for March 16th- March 22nd are cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date if the calendar permits. This includes the Orchestra Concert scheduled for March 17th as well as the Angelina College ESL informational meeting on March 19th.

The University Interscholastic League has cancelled all extra-curricular activities beginning March 16th thru March 29th.  We will not be holding any practices thru next week (March 22nd) and student athletes will be updated about further practices by their coaches. The District Executive Committee will decide when any district contests will be rescheduled.
